About Me

Personal - Born in 1946 in Birmingham, AL. My father was a career Army officer, so I have lived both in the United States and Europe. Having lived in Italy and Germany for five years, I have been able to see first-hand the art treasures of those countries. Other extensive travels have allowed me to visit major museums an exhibitions helping stimulate my artistic endeavors and sense of different artistic styles and mediums.

Education - Visual Design major at Auburn University; additional painting and art history classes at the University of Alabama and Alabama A&M, plus extensive private lessons in stained glass and pottery. Workshops in France and John Campbell Folk Art School.

Career - I have taught private art classes in my home for over forty-six years, teaching students from age six to almost age one hundred. I conduct week-long art camps in the summer to offer in-depth artistic experiences to children who may have never been exposed to art. I served as artist-in-residence at Chestnut Grove, Walter Jackson and Eastwood Elementary in Decatur, AL. and taught several special seminars for schools where specific area of concentration was requested. I have also taught one-time classes in a specific medium for community adults. 

Artistic Accomplishments - One-woman shows at the Carnegie Visual Arts Center, Grisham-Cornell Gallery, and Perceptive Designs all in Decatur, AL and a private home in Dallas, TX. I have painted large murals for Meow Mix corporate headquarters, Episcopal Church of the Nativity in Huntsville, AL, First Baptist Church in Decatur, AL and also the Music School in Hartselle, AL, Cocoa Cola Bottling Co., Cooks Natural Science Museum and Chenault Studios all in Decatur, AL and the pediatrics ward at Decatur General Hospital. I have done pen and ink drawings for many local organizations including First American Bank, Hospice of the Valley, the Women's Chamber of Commerce and Saint John's Episcopal Church. Additionally, commissioned paintings are in permanent collections locally at the Public Library, Morgan County Courthouse, restaurants, banks, other public buildings and many private homes. My works is in oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, pen and ink, encaustics, and mixed media.
